Army dog tags for Valentine’s Day

The safety of our families is our highest and most important duty in the world. For this coming Valentine ’s Day we have decided on a army dog tags theme. We have chosen dog tags to be particularly fitting to the times we currently live in. Our faith in those we rely on for our safety and liberty have never been tested as it is now. We are facing a situation where we and our loved ones are threatened by forces unknown and we never truly know how safe we really are even on our own home turf.Military dog tags or identification tags, as they are nowadays called to avoid derogatory connotations, have been in use by the military since the First World War. Army dog tags are issued to soldiers as a set of two as a means of identification, in the event of a soldier falling in battle. One of the dog tags remains with the body, whereas the other is collected for record purposes and to give to the family of the deceased.

The purpose of army dog tags are to record pertinent information of a soldier, such as identity, religion and critical medical details. Military dog tags, however, have made their way into fashion in recent years. The image created by wearing dog tags casually, is aligned with its military use by association, nostalgia or even in solidarity with serviceman.

Whereas army dog tags share the association with man’s best friend only in name, it seems fitting somehow. Dogs are loyal to the end and will defend its family with its very life.

The Ankh is an ancient Egyptian symbol of life and is a hieroglyphic character often seen in the proximity of Deities and Pharaohs.

The Ankh symbol has also been discovered in excavations as far as Mesopotamia and Persia.
The meaning of the Ankh symbol is widely accepted as life, immortality and sometimes also fertility, however the origins of the Ankh are largely unknown and remain a mystery lost in time.

The image is sometimes associated with a symbol of male and female and as such bears a meaning of fertility to some academics. It has also been compared to a side view of the vertebra of a bull suggesting a representation of power and strength.

 

The meaning of the Ankh symbol is widely accepted as life, immortality and sometimes also fertility, however the origins of the Ankh are largely unknown and remain a mystery lost in time.

The four pointed cross associated with the crucifixion in Christianity has similar meaning as the three pointed cross of the Ankh, in terms of eternal life symbolism. The Egyptian religions, in contrast however prescribed to many gods as opposed to one.

The Ankh symbol is not generally seen as a celebration of any singular faith of ancient Egypt, but rather as a celebration of life with a mystical twist.
